Arts & Business Symposium and 2009 Winners Announced!

This year's Arts & Business Symposium was, again, at the beautiful Torys offices (79 Wellington St. W). Set in the backdrop of the exquisite Torys private art collection, the evening began with the much anticipated announcement of the 2009 Business for the Arts Award winners.
The winners will receive their awards and be recognized at the 31st Annual Business for the Arts Awards Gala on October 29th in the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO). This year's winners include (more details on our winners in our press release section):
- A. Charles Baillie, Edmund C. Bovey Award - Announcement made by Chairman James Fleck, O.C.
- TELUS, Globe and Mail Business for the Arts Award for Most Effective Corporate Program
- Raymond James, Globe and Mail Business for the Arts Award for Best Entrepreneurial Partnership
- Xstrata Nickel, Globe and Mail Business for the Arts Award for Most Innovative Marketing Partnership
- Award of Distinction to RBC, Canadian North Airlines, and Quality Inn Grand Falls
- Globe and Mail Business for the Arts Awards announcements by Philip Crawley, Publisher and CEO of The Globe and Mail
- Marcello Cabezas, Arnold Edinborough Award - Announcement made by Takashi Yamashita, co-chair of BftA artsScene

After the official announcements were made, guests enjoyed a fascinating panel discussion featuring Charles Baillie, Janet Yale, Marcello Cabezas, and Peter Kahnert - All representing 2009 Business for the Arts Awards winners.
At the cocktail reception, guests browsed the Torys art collection and mingled with a number of arts organizations who were present with information on how to get involved with their organizations both at the volunteer and board levels.
